In the Canary Island Gran Canaria there is, of course, much more to be seen than just the tourist area around Maspalomas with the dunes and beaches or your hotel pool.

For the leisure traveller, the island offers numerous breathtaking hiking trails to discover the beauty of the volcanic island.

Here an overview 4 beautiful hiking destinations

The Camino de Santiago

Correct. Also in Gran Canaria there is a "Camino de Santiago". This centuries-old path originally linked two churches of San Bartolomé de Tirajana in the south of the island and Galdar in the north-west.

In 2011, the local tourist office extended the route to the resort of Playa del Ingles. Since then, you’re able to hike from coast to coast over a 2-3 day trip.

A hike to Gran Canaria's most famous rock - the Roque Nublo - should be a Must for hikers.

The ascent costs a little sweat and plenty of water, but is rewarded with beautiful views over the island's interior.

Once you have arrived, you can rest on the rocks and admire a wonderful panorama view of Tenerife.

Tip: Take a lot of water with you and only with suitable shoes and head cover.

The lonely beach of GüiGüi offers you a certain Robinson Crusoe experience.

This secluded beach is mostly approached by the waterway. However, if you want to take a 2-3-hour hike through the green valley, start in the village of Tasartico.

Your willpower will be awarded with a sunbath on one of the most romantic beaches on Gran Canaria.

Tejeda, one of the most beautiful villages in the whole of Spain, offers a beautiful hike in the countryside with views over the mountains to the remote village of La Culata.

The path leads through wide, well-preserved paths with a slight slope, surrounded by canary pines and sage.

Have fun with these hiking tours on Gran Canaria :)
